We stayed at a hotel with ties to Denmark...

Since Peter's flight was delayed, we drove up to Volcan Poas. The road was windy, narrow and crowded with people (and animals) walking...

and tourist traps...

hiking up to the crater edge...

huge umbrella plants...

the lake inside the crater...

After getting Peter at the airport, we headed for Monteverde. We stopped at a cool little restaurant high up in the mountains. The downpour started as we arrived...

Fred, me and Peter...

KK and Susie... there were little statues like this everywhere...

Back on the drive... there were lots of floppy-eared cows, or "flows" (as we named them)...

Peter shooting flows...

Strange sightings on the road... kids in pickup beds, on ATVs (on the highway) and trucks loaded with people hanging off all sides...

also, lots of one-lane bridges that have seen better days...

The dirt road to Monteverde... the brush is dusty from the traffic...

We stayed at the Arco Iris Lodge in Santa Elena, Monteverde and had a 4-br house all to ourselves...

Here's Susie and Peter in front of our house... it's the one on the left behind all the foliage...

The main room (there's a dining table to the left you can't see) and the kitchen in the rear.

Stone and tiled bathrooms...

The master suite...

Our front porch...

And our swing...

Kicking around in Santa Elena (taken on various nights)...

Flowers on the hotel grounds...

Sunset at the hotel...

Our last meal in Monteverde cooked by Susie and KK...
